At PhotonFirst we are working on the design and implementation of a centralized software framework, which will merge all our existing software products together. Critical part of this framework is a database which is responsible for storing design-, testing-, production- and configuration-data of our measurement systems and more. For this database we need a solid design and a prototype. Our proposal therefore is: 

Design and prototype implementation of the PhotonFirst Design and Production Database 

Tasks consist of: 

1.      Creating an inventory of data stored in production part of database 

2.      Creating an inventory of data stored in design part of database 

3.      Designing the database itself 

4.      Investigating different database engine options 

5.      Setting up a short-list of database engines and formulating an advice towards PhotonFirst 

6.      Implement prototype databases using two database engines 

7.      Performance analysis of prototyped databases, and formulating an advice towards PhotonFirst
