ActuIT provides interactive solutions for communication in the field of pensions and other financial products. With the help of areas like actuarial science, IT and communication, ActuIT develops pension portals. We distribute software solutions to 8 out of 10 biggest pension providers in the Netherlands. The company creates a development platform and delivers it to organizations that provide their clients with budgetary solutions.
ActuIT is a leading organization for financial advising with our efficient and easy to use products, we are leaving our mark on the pension fund market.
The main focus is our custom made software platform called Futurama. Futurama provides the possibility to build your own personalized applications. It offers a user-friendly development environment with flexible and customizable functionality. The solution contains 34 projects, all of which contribute to the optimal performance of our products.
These applications provide:
- Online pension planners within portals;
- Documents with individualized pension information (either digital or printed);
- Pension calculations used by other (front- or backend) software applications.
Team
ActuIT holds offices in Amsterdam and Eindhoven and has 10 employees (4 developers, 6 consultants). What we lack in size, we make up in expertise. All of our employees are selected based on capability, rather than background. Some of our workers started out as interns, that proved they could lead our company to new strides in the technological world.
We are an outgoing and friendly team that emphasizes on employee satisfaction. Assignment
The assignment consists of exploring the innovative technologies that are part of the Net 5 Framework. As of the year 2021, 4.8 Framework will be the last supported version of .NET that runs strictly on Windows. For ActuIT that meant that there is a necessity for an update.
Goal
Our goal is to migrate the solution we currently have to a newer and more flexible environment. That allows us to provide and sustain the latest technology available on the market. We would like to migrate our product to a cross-platform environment that is able to support both Windows and Linux.
Current development
Currently this is an ongoing project that has been developed by interns that were hired in the beginning of February. They have reached great strides in preparing the company to succeed in our end goal of the Net 5 Migration. We are looking for capable students that can carry on the torch of modernization. The upcoming part of the assignment is the most rewarding one. Finalizing and publishing your work as it will be part of our released product. The students that we hire will have the opportunity to witness how their code becomes reality and make a positive impact in our software solution.
Internship specifics
You will be working on our development platform called Futurama. This is the software that we release every month with the latest updates. All of our developers are devoted to enhancing and perfecting our solution. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced IT specialists and contribute to the modification performed on Futurama every month. Our team is proficient in managing grand scale projects and are always ready to assist and guide our future developers. Aspects of your internship will be related to :
- Implementing new functionality to Futurama, based on the .NET 5 Framework;
- Working with innovative technology such as gRPC, ASP.NET Core, etcetera;
- Working with Unit and Regression tests;
- Constructing a supported Linux environment;
- Attend company parties.
Work Environment
During the internship we will supply any hardware or software that is needed throughout the process.
- You will be given a company laptop, installed with all the programs that are essential for your working experience.
- Our offices in Eindhoven and Amsterdam are at your disposal to provide a safe and professional working environment.
- We will assign a company mentor, with an extensive IT background and years of experience, that will guide you through your internship as well as help and navigation from our other developers. To achieve optimal results in this assignment, our team will be available to provide daily support in the duration of your internship.
Currently the corona situation does not require us to work more than two days per week in the office, however you are welcome to use our facilities as much as you like. They are fully equipped with any type of hardware that you may need (keyboards, monitors, mouses, etcetera). We are confident that our current infrastructure will give you a comfortable and professional environment where you could expand your knowledge and capabilities as a developer.
Duration of the internship
The internship will span in the course of six months. Starting from the 1st of September and ending on 31st of January.
Compensation
The salary will be 800 euros per month.
