Rails Developer @Gigstarter

Gigstarter is the European marketplace for live music. Over 9000 artists have signed up and can be booked through our online platform, ranging from house DJs to entire orchestras. Our office is based in the centre of Amsterdam. We're a young and versatile team that is always looking to work with energetic and inspiring people. Impact, creativity and sustainability are key.

We're looking for a highly motivated, broadly oriented student to work on our ecosystem. Do you like music, coding and startups? Then read along:

We're constantly developing our live music engine: www.gigstarter.nl. Corona only increases the need to keep diversifying and improving our services. You'll be working together closely with our international Community Management (CM) team and will be developing extensions to our existing services. A proactive, intersdisciplinary and multicultural approach is a must.

The exact focus can be defined depending on your study specialisation and interests, but you'll be working with Ruby on Rails and React for sure. The main focus will be on back-end development and you'll be in charge of important aspects, creating direct impact to thousands of artists and bookers across eight EU countries.

In a practical work-internship you'll be focussing on the development of new tools for artists, bookers and our community managers to increase conversions and improve the UX. In a research internship you'll be working out a plugin infrstructure (open API based) for future ecosystem extensions. In all cases you'll work closely together with our AI team, our marketeers (CMs), business developers and CEO.

We offer a full time internship and you'll have a lot of freedom in choosing your approaches to the challenges you'll get. We have lots of data and innovation plans that can form the basis of strong scientific research if needed. In any case, we do expect a proactive and pragmatic approach in which research and product oriented development are combined in order to deliver an MVP or pilot in which partners and/or users can be introduced.

We have a small remuneration and are flexible in terms of duration (min. 5 months, starting latest in Feb 2021). We see an internship as a test of a potential long term collaboration, especially if you're also interested/knowledgeable in Rails (or alike) there will be multiple follow-up opportunities.

Feel free to contact us for any questions. More about this project and other internships can be found here: www.gigstarter.co.uk/it-dev. If interested please fill in this form.
