SimpliSoft - Software Engineer

SimpliSoft is a Dutch software company. We take the slowest and most frustrating parts of how a company works and make them easy, using technology most of our clients would not get to on their own. Operations slow people down, and we fix that. We build for a broad group of companies. Logistics operators moving serious volume make up the largest part today, alongside young startups.

What you will work on

We build complete portals for our clients. Right now that is mostly logistics companies, but the pattern is the same in every sector: a company sitting on an enormous amount of data and doing almost nothing useful with it. We turn that into tools, insight and automation. The point of the job is making companies smart that were never set up to be, using the newest technology available, and implementing it simply enough that they actually use it.

Building portals end to end. Data model, backend, interface, the whole thing rather than one slice of it.

Getting data out of systems that were never designed to give it up, and making it reliable enough to act on.

Turning that into dashboards, reports, alerts and tools people open every day.

AI on top of it: reporting, search and agents that take real work off people's hands.

The infrastructure it all runs on, because we host it ourselves.

How we build

Language: TypeScript is our main language, on both sides. You will write frontend and backend, and you will not be boxed into one of them.

      Frontend: React and Next.js.

Backend: Node.js and PostgreSQL, with open source services we run ourselves instead of renting a managed version.

Infrastructure: Linux and Docker on our own servers in Europe. We do not move client data to the large cloud providers, and that is a hard requirement rather than a preference.

AI: a mix of hosted models through APIs and models we run on our own hardware, depending on what the data allows. We build retrieval over client data, agents that actually do something, and we put them in the product instead of in a demo. This part matters most.

How we work, honestly

Read this part properly. It is the difference between loving this job and leaving after three months.

We move fast. Something discussed on Monday is often live by Friday. You will ship to production in your first weeks, with review, not after a six-month onboarding.

We use AI tooling every day, as part of the normal workflow. We expect you to use it well and to stay critical of what it produces, because you remain responsible for the code that carries your name.

You will be close to the client. Joining calls, hearing the actual problem, asking the follow-up question yourself.

We give direct feedback. Short, specific, about the work and never about you. We expect the same back, including when you think a decision is wrong.

You are expected to figure things out. Try it, look it up, form an opinion, then ask. Getting stuck is fine, staying stuck quietly is not.

Not everything is documented and not every project is tidy. That comes with our size. If you need a fully specified ticket before you can start, this will frustrate you.

None of this is something you need to bring fully formed. Almost all of it can be taught, and it will be. What we cannot teach is the willingness to learn it at this pace.

What we are looking for

No specific diploma and no minimum number of years. We care about what you can do and how quickly you pick things up.

You can build things and you have something to show for it, whether that came from school, a job, or your own projects at the kitchen table.

You follow what is happening in software and in AI, and you try the new things out yourself instead of only reading about them.

You enjoy this as much as we do. That is not a formality, it is the single best predictor of how this goes.

You write code that other people can read and maintain, and you understand why that matters.

We mostly speak Dutch internally. Good English is important too, because our clients are international.

You live within reasonable travel distance of Amsterdam and can be on site regularly.

What we offer

A market-conform salary and good secondary benefits, reviewed as you grow.

Direct mentoring from the founders. Small team, no queue for attention.

Ownership of real features for real clients, not a training backlog.

A hybrid setup in the Amsterdam area with flexible hours and room to arrange your own week.

A learning budget, the hardware you need and the AI tooling we use ourselves.

Space to grow in whichever direction fits you, whether that is frontend, backend, data, infrastructure or AI.
