Data engineering internship
Design the data layer behind 21.5 million product variants.
Reading 40,000 webshops is only half the job. The other half is making sense of what we read. That means spotting the same sneaker in dozens of shops, remembering what it cost last month and letting an AI agent find all of it in one query. SKUU connects fashion and shoe shops so that when one shop runs out, another shop’s stock can fill the gap. That only works when the data underneath is right.
The role
As a data engineering intern you design that data layer together with the founder. It runs on Postgres and holds 21.5 million product variants today. You own real problems, with someone guiding you the whole way.
What you’ll work on
For example, together with the founder you will:
- Design the data model for 40,000 shops, covering products, sizes, prices, stock and history
- Build the checks that keep the data fresh, and the matching that recognises one product across shops
- Shape the index that AI agents query, and measure whether they actually use it
What you’ll learn
- How to model a large dataset so queries stay fast as it grows
- How product matching works when every shop names things differently
- How AI agents read structured data, and how to design for them
- How a small team that moves fast ships real products
Who we’re looking for
- You think in tables, keys and queries, and your SQL is solid.
- A wrong number bothers you, and you can prove which one is right.
- You’re curious how AI models read structured data such as feeds, APIs and schemas.
By the end of 2027 this database will hold more than a year of market history, and you decide how it is stored. If that sounds like your kind of problem, we’d love to hear from you.
